<h3>Key Highlights</h3>

<li><strong>June 2024 Production</strong>: In June alone, local plants manufactured/assembled 4.26 million handsets, compared to a mere 0.08 million imported units.</li>
<li><strong>January-May 2024 Production</strong>: During the first five months of 2024, 13.08 million handsets were locally manufactured/assembled, while only 0.76 million units were imported.</li>

<h3>Breakdown of Manufactured Handsets</h3>
<p dir="auto">Out of the 17.34 million handsets produced:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>2G Handsets</strong>: 6.19 million units</li>
<li><strong>Smartphones</strong>: 11.15 million units</li>

<p dir="auto">According to PTA data, 61 percent of mobile devices on Pakistan’s network are smartphones, while 39 percent are 2G devices.</p>
<h3>Import Statistics</h3>

<li><strong>Fiscal Year 2023-24</strong>: Pakistan imported mobile phones worth $1.898 billion, marking a 233 percent increase from $570.071 million in the previous fiscal year.</li>
<li><strong>In Rupee Terms</strong>: The import value in rupees was Rs535.690 billion for 2023-24, a significant 291.45 percent growth from Rs136.847 billion in 2022-23.</li>
<li><strong>June 2024 Imports</strong>: Mobile phone imports rose by 76.77 percent month-on-month (MoM), totaling $278.574 million in June, up from $157.592 million in May.</li>
<li><strong>Year-on-Year (YoY) Growth</strong>: In June 2024, imports saw a 419.90 percent YoY increase, compared to $53.582 million in June 2023.</li>

<h3>Overall Telecom Imports</h3>

<li><strong>Fiscal Year 2023-24</strong>: Telecom imports reached $2.366 billion, registering a 147.36 percent growth from $956.696 million in 2022-23.</li>
<li><strong>June 2024</strong>: Overall telecom imports were $320.094 million, showing a 232 percent YoY increase from $96.415 million in June 2023. MoM growth was 51.28 percent, up from $211.586 million in May 2024.</li>
